The Santa Cruz Mountains are the low coastal range that separates the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley, from the Monterey Bay and Pacific Ocean. Here, just 7 miles from the ocean and at 400 feet in elevation, we are home. Appleview is our slice of this mountain paradise, named for the small orchard that fronts our home and dominates the view. The setting is a mix of dry meadows, fern grottos, and forest. Lots of forest, all on steep hillsides… giant redwoods, oaks, madrone, manzanita, Monterey pine, douglas fir, bay laurel, and more. Unfenced, the property is regularly visited by turkeys, California quail, and deer, plus the occasional coyote and bobcat. To top it off the property is totally private, making for a pretty cool shoot location!
